Hey this is the reason u lost that money.

Hey this is the reason u lost that money.

Why Most Forex Traders Lose Money (And How You Can Avoid Their Mistakes)

Make we tell ourselves the truth. Almost everybody that enters forex gets one dream: “Before this year ends, I go don cash out.”

No be bad dream. The problem be say, many people think forex na quick money.

You open Instagram and see one guy post, “Made $500 before breakfast.” Another person dey show Lamborghini keys. Before you know am, you don fund your account with plenty confidence.

Then market happen.

Your first week fit even sweet you. Maybe you make two or three winning trades. You begin feel say you don understand the market pass everybody. Na there wahala dey start.

One bad trade enters.

Instead of accepting the loss, you tell yourself, “E go reverse.”

It no reverse.

You add another trade.

Still nothing.

Before you know wetin dey happen, the account wey you dey protect yesterday don disappear. Omo, that kind pain different.

The funny thing be say, the market no hate anybody. E no even know your name. Most people lose because of the same mistakes, and if care no dey taken, you fit join them.

The first mistake na entering every trade wey your eye see.

Price just move small, you don press Buy.

Price drop small, you don press Sell.

Calm down na.

No be every movement be opportunity. Sometimes the best thing you fit do as a trader na to close your app and go drink cold water. Opportunities no dey finish for forex.

Another thing wey dey wound many traders na greed.

You make $20 profit, but instead of closing the trade, you say, “Make e reach $100.”

Few minutes later, the market changes direction. That $20 profit don turn to $10.

You still refuse to close.

Before long, you’re looking at a red trade, hoping and praying. Forex no dey answer that kind prayer.

One lesson this market teaches very quickly be say, nobody is bigger than the chart.

Another mistake wey almost everybody don make before na increasing lot size because of overconfidence.

Maybe your last three trades entered well. You begin reason say, “Today na my day.”

You increase your lot size.

Na that particular trade decide to misbehave.

One candle just wipe everything wey you make since morning. The market get one funny way of reminding us say confidence no be strategy.

Then we get people wey hate stop-loss.

If this one na you, abeg shine your eye.

You go hear things like, “Price must come back.”

Who tell you?

Sometimes e comes back. Plenty times, e no come back.

I’ve seen traders watch a small loss grow into something they couldn’t recover from simply because they refused to close the trade. Taking a small loss no sweet, but blowing your account pain pass.

Another thing wey destroys traders na trying to recover losses immediately.

You lose one trade.

Instead of resting your mind, you enter another one with anger.

That one loses too.

Now your emotions don collect steering from your strategy. Once you start trading to “win your money back,” you’re no longer thinking clearly. You’re just reacting.

Social media too no help matters.

Everybody dey post winning trades.

Nobody dey post the account wey dem blow last month.

Because of that, beginners begin believe say professional traders never lose. That’s not true. Every serious trader collects losses. The difference is that they don’t allow one bad day to become one bad month.

Another habit wey hold people back na depending on signals for everything.

There’s nothing wrong with learning from experienced traders, but if all you know na to copy Buy and Sell signals, wetin go happen when the signals stop coming?

Learn the skill too.

Understand why price moved.

Know where support and resistance dey.

Read your candlesticks.

The knowledge go remain with you even if the signal provider disappears tomorrow.

One thing forex has taught me is this: patience pays more than excitement.

Some of my best trading days were the days I entered just one clean trade and closed my laptop. No stress. No overthinking. Just one good setup.

At the end of the day, forex no be competition. Nobody is giving an award for taking fifty trades in one day. Your job is simple—protect your account first, then look for profit.

If you can control your emotions, manage your risk, and stop chasing every candle wey move, you’ve already done better than many beginners.

No be every day you go make money.

No be every trade go enter.

Accept that one early, and trading becomes easier.

Remember, the market no dey owe anybody profit. But if you stay disciplined, keep learning, and avoid these common mistakes, you’ll give yourself a much better chance of becoming consistently profitable.

Small small, you go get there.
