Having plenty Indicators will confuse you, here is the reason why u should stick to simple chart and colours
Why More Indicators Won’t Make You a Better Trader
“Omo, send me that indicator wey dey give 100% accurate signals.”
The first time someone asked me that question, I just laughed.
Not because the person was joking, but because I used to think the same way.
When I started trading, I believed my problem was simple. I just hadn’t found the “magic indicator.”
So I started downloading everything I could find.
Moving Average.
RSI.
MACD.
Bollinger Bands.
Stochastic.
Ichimoku.
If somebody on YouTube said one indicator was the secret, I would quickly add it to my chart.
Before I knew it, my screen looked like Christmas decorations.
Lines everywhere.
Different colours.
Arrows pointing up and down.
One indicator was shouting “Buy!”
Another one was saying “Sell!”
The third one looked confused.
Na me come confuse pass.
Instead of making trading easier, I made it harder for myself.
I would spend almost one hour analysing one chart and still end up taking a bad trade.
One day my friend looked at my laptop and burst out laughing.
He asked me, “Guy, you dey analyse market or you dey design wedding invitation?”
I laughed too, but deep down I knew he was right.
The truth is, indicators are only tools.
They don’t predict the future.
Most of them are using the same price that you’re already looking at.
They just present the information in different ways.
Think about it like cooking.
If you don’t know how to cook rice, buying ten different pots won’t suddenly make you a better cook.
You’ll just have more pots.
Trading works the same way.
Adding more indicators doesn’t automatically make you a better trader.
Sometimes it only gives you more reasons to doubt yourself.
One thing I noticed was that I stopped trusting my own eyes.
Price would clearly be respecting support.
The trend was obvious.
Everything looked good.
But because one indicator wasn’t agreeing, I refused to enter.
Guess what happened?
The market moved exactly the way I expected.
I missed the trade because I was waiting for every indicator to agree.
That day taught me something important.
No setup is ever going to be perfect.
If you’re waiting for ten indicators to give the same signal, you might end up watching the market move without you.
These days my chart is almost empty.
Anybody who sees it for the first time might even think I don’t know what I’m doing.
But that’s the funny part.
The less noise on my screen, the clearer my decisions became.
I can actually see what price is doing.
I don’t have to zoom in and out because twenty different lines are covering my candles.
Sometimes simplicity wins.
Have you noticed that many experienced traders don’t have crowded charts?
There’s a reason.
They’ve already learned that understanding price is more important than collecting indicators.
Another mistake many beginners make is changing indicators every week.
This week it’s RSI.
Next week it’s MACD.
After that, somebody on TikTok posts another strategy, and you abandon everything again.
How do you expect to improve if you never stay with one method long enough to understand it?
Trading is not about finding the perfect indicator.
It’s about becoming consistent with a simple strategy.
Even the best indicator in the world cannot help someone who lacks discipline.
If you don’t respect your stop loss, an indicator won’t save you.
If you risk half your account on one trade, an indicator won’t stop the loss.
If you’re entering because of fear or greed, no indicator can fix that.
Those are personal habits.
And that’s where real improvement starts.
So before downloading another “100% accurate” indicator, ask yourself one question.
“Am I looking for a better strategy, or am I looking for an easy shortcut?”
Be honest with yourself.
Most times, the answer is obvious.
The market isn’t difficult because you’re missing one special indicator.
It’s difficult because trading requires patience, discipline and practice.
Those things can’t be downloaded.
They have to be built over time.
So if your chart currently looks like a rainbow, maybe it’s time to remove a few things.
Leave only what truly helps your decision.
You’ll be surprised how much clearer the market becomes.
At the end of the day, profits don’t come from having the busiest chart.
They come from making good decisions consistently.
And trust me, a calm mind with a simple chart will always beat a confused trader surrounded by twenty indicators. In trading,u need a simple chart plus a calm mind to excel.
One lesson I wish I learned earlier is that confidence doesn’t come from adding more indicators. It comes from seeing the same setup over and over until you understand it. The market will always be there tomorrow, so there’s no need to rush or chase every signal. Master one approach, stay patient, and let experience become your biggest advantage.
