I Chose a Broker. And It Was a Whole Story
Hey, this is NorthRay.
Remember last time, when I sat there staring blankly at MetaTrader 4, afraid to click anything?
Well, here’s the thing: a terminal without an account is like a car without wheels. It looks nice, but it’s not going anywhere.
I needed a broker. And that’s when the real quest began.🥶
How I Spent Two Evenings with the Internet and a Cup of Coffee
I never thought choosing a broker would be its own special kind of stress for a beginner.
Do you know how many there are? Dozens. Hundreds. Each one with a slick website, green “Become a Trader” buttons, and smiling people in photos who apparently became millionaires in two weeks.
I honestly read reviews. Forums. Telegram channels. Guides on “how to avoid scammers.”
My head was spinning.
Some shouted, “Only regulated brokers with top-tier oversight!” Others said, “It doesn’t matter, as long as withdrawals work.” And others: “They’re all the same, just pick the one with the lowest spread.”🤔
I ended up more confused than I was with the indicators.
Why I Settled on InstaForex
I could write now that I conducted a complex fundamental analysis and compared every rating in the world. But no.
It happened much more simply—and honestly.
On one trading forum (I won’t name it—sometimes they write strange things there), I found a long post from a guy who’s been trading for five years. He wrote something along these lines:
“A beginner doesn’t need a perfect broker. A beginner needs a broker that has:
— a demo account with no restrictions;
— a clear, understandable client area;
— and a place where they won’t be afraid to click something.”
And he recommended InstaForex. Just as a practical option to get started.
I went to check it out.
Here’s what honestly won me over (no advertising, I’m just telling my story):

-
A demo account opens in two minutes. I didn’t need to send documents, wait for verification, or do a video call. I entered a made-up name and email—and got 10,000 virtual dollars. For a newbie, that’s magic.
-
The client area wasn’t intimidating. You know those sites with a hundred buttons, five menu levels, and everything in broken English? Here, it was all pretty straightforward: balance, accounts, deposit/withdrawal, and a couple of tabs. I found the “Open Demo Account” button in 10 seconds.
-
Plenty of guides in Russian and English. I read on forums that they have good support and a ton of educational material. For me, as someone who’s still learning, that’s important—so I don’t have to wonder, “What does this checkbox do?”
-
A low entry threshold. I’m not planning to deposit real money yet, but if I ever decide to—you can start from 1 dollar. Not 100, not 500. One. For me, that takes away a lot of the psychological pressure.
Yes, I know: every broker has its downsides. Someone might say they read about requotes or poor quotes during news events on forums. Maybe. But I’m a beginner. I don’t need perfection. I need a start.
And I made it.🙄
My First Victory Over Fear
Last night, I sat in front of my laptop. Behind me lay the choice of broker, a completed registration, and an already downloaded terminal.
I logged into my InstaForex client area. Clicked “Open Demo Account.” Chose MetaTrader 4, funded it with 10,000 virtual USD. Saw my new account in the list with all those beautiful zeros.
And I froze.
Because the terminal came alive. It was no longer empty. There was a balance. There were bid/ask prices. There was a real chance to do something.
I took a breath and clicked “New Order.”
I bought 0.01 lots of EUR/USD. The smallest trade in the world. So tiny the demo money didn’t even notice it.
The chart twitched. I saw a green floating profit. Then, a minute later—a red loss of half a dollar.
I looked at those numbers and suddenly realized: I did it. I didn’t break the system. I didn’t bankrupt a fictional company. I didn’t trigger a call from the bank.
I just clicked a button.
And the world didn’t collapse.😱

What’s Next
Right now, I have that tiny trade open. I’m watching how it lives. I’m learning to feel the market without the risk of losing real money.
Tomorrow, I’ll open a couple more orders. I’ll start testing simple strategies. I’ll make mistakes. Write them down. Laugh at myself.
This isn’t about making money. It’s about taking the first step.
If you’ve also registered with some broker and were afraid to click “buy”—you’re not alone. Millions of traders have gone through the exact same thing. And I’m going through it right now.
Yours, NorthRay (with my first open demo trade)💪
